Instead, they’ll come from the doorways that you’ve seen around the map. The Locust Horde enemies will no longer spawn from random Reavers or Emergence Holes. It’s going to be a death sentence if they’re caught since they might not be able to move away from the missiles. This attack has a frontal cone that not only damages your units within the AoE, it’ll also prevent them from moving or using abilities for a time. The Hydra will unleash a piercing screech on the section of the map that it’s closest to. You’ll have to get away from these spots since those missiles will go boom once you end our turn. The boss will fire two, then three, and finally four missiles each turn as the fight progresses. Just like the Brumak, the Hydra’s main attack comes from its missile launcher. I won’t spoil who the fourth one is because the character might be a treat for Gears of War fans. Note: Three of the four characters are Gabe, Sid, and Mikayla. Much like the boss encounters before it, this fight will still have three phases denoted by the monster’s health bar. It’ll smash the walkways and split your group into two teams of two. Once all three levers have been activated, the Hydra will make its grand entrance. Take note of these doorways since they’re still the spawn locations during the Hydra encounter. There are three levers that need to be activated here and you’ll go counter-clockwise to reach them all.Įnemy mobs such as Hammerburst Drones, Wretches, Grenadiers, and even Disciples, Zealots, and Theron Guards will spawn from the doorways to annoy you. You’ll then need to do a few tasks in a short mission, namely flushing all the Imulsion vats in a circular room.

If you are expecting an attack, set up several units with full magazines in the same direction. Also, the closer the enemy is, the easier it is to deal with them. Even if the "Overwatch" mode fails, the enemy can interrupt its movement when they get pinned down. They may also be narrow passages or corners of buildings. These can be exposed areas that lead directly to your soldiers. Well-placed units can create "death zones" in which the enemy won't be able to survive. These can be grenades, skills of your heroes and soldiers, or the shooting modes of a given weapon. The only way to deal with this mode is to use skills that can "interrupt". Overwatch mode is useful for forcing enemy units to take some action - it is activated not only during movement but also during an attack. The other weapons are roughly in the middle in terms of the length and width of the attack range. A sniper rifle is opposite - it has a narrow but very long cone of attack. A shotgun used by the Scout class has the largest angle of view in the overwatch mode but has a small range. This way you can determine the most effective angle for an attack. In this mode, you determine the direction and size of the cone, which determines the attack range of your weapon. The enemy often attacks by surprise and from many directions. But it is worth using if you don't have another good way to use your soldiers. It's not worth activating this mode when you don't have ammunition in your magazine or have it less than action points. The number of shots is determined by the remaining action points.
